LEEP / TAP
Local Energy Efficiency Partnerships (LEEP) and Technology Adoption Pilot (TAP) was launched in four Ontario regions in April 2010 by the EnerQuality Corporation with the support of Natural Resources Canada's CanmetENERGY, the Ontario Power Authority, Enbridge, and Union Gas.
The LEEP technology review process and the installation of technologies in TAP Discovery homes, aims to accelerate the adoption of builder-selected, energy-efficient technologies and best practices across Ontario. It addresses the issue of builders who, swamped with information about new products, must decide which are the most market ready, offer the greatest value and fit best into the housing development system.
BILD was selected as the first of four participating Ontario home building associations, along with London, Sudbury and Hamilton-Halton and Niagara (who have partnered for this initiative). This will lead to the building of 40 demonstration homes in these four regions over the course of two years.
The program promises to help accelerate the pace at which new technologies are adopted into the market, and will serve as a model for builders across the country. Click here for EnerQuality’s official release.

Play-by-play
On Friday, June 11, members of the LEEP/TAP initiative gathered in the BILD boardroom for the first official program meeting.
With BILD’s help, up to ten homebuilders with active projects in the City of Vaughan will work side by side with the City of Vaughan Building Department to identify green materials, products and technologies they would like to implement in Discovery Homes.
A summary of the next meeting will be posted soon.
